Who is Larry Ellison? More importantly which Larry Ellison is he?
This Larry Ellison (poor man) is not the eccentric billionaire co-founder and CEO of Oracle although he has been confused for him before in the media. This is the Larry Ellison that retrieved two back to back Barry Bonds milestone home runs while floating in McCovey Cove in a kayak while impersonating Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Governator. The media initially thought he was Oracle’s Larry Ellison (rich man). He was later interviewed by Oracle for an article in their internal magazine comparing him to their Larry for the purposes of a humorous roast. They do however have a few things in common:
- Both were adopted by a man with the last name of Ellison
- Both sold software as a profession
- Both are fans of the San Francisco Giants. (the luxury seats are named after Mr. Ellison who could pay cash for the club if he desired; the governator gave a half million dollar baseball back to Barry Bonds)
- Both of them enjoy being on the ocean in their boats. (Mr. Ellison has a $200M yacht named the Rising Sun which has been mistaken for a cruise ship; Larry has a custom built kayak equpped with a waterproof tablet PC )
